Two more million euros for seeding project ideas
The EUSBSR Seed Money Facility will be able to provide funding to more projects than originally planned for. On top of 1.3 million euros originally provided, 2.0 million euro will be granted to the Seed Money Facility from the Technical assistance budget to the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR)
The decision of the Member States and the EU Commission came well in time for the on-going assessment of more than 60 seed money proposals submitted in September - the majority of them with a budget of about 50.000 €. The additional funds provided will allow for more applications to be approved in this decision-making round. After the closure of the second financial decision, in February 2014, the EUSBSR Seed Money Committee will decide if a third round for seed money applications will be launched.
The EUSBSR Seed Money Facility has been hosted by IB.SH (Investitionsbank Schleswig-Holstein) since January 2013. Seed money is a grant that helps project idea owners to prepare a project proposal. The project proposal resulting from the seed money grant must contribute - by its idea - to the implementation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR). It can be directed at any funding institution active in the Baltic Sea Region. For more information about seed money and the projects already approved, please go to seed.eusbsr.eu.
