Approximately 100 participants attended the event on "Innovative logistics concepts for additional connections within the Baltic Sea Region".

Altogether the representatives of the logistics industry took a positive view on 2012. In spite of stagnation and difficult conditions the growth level of all German North and Baltic Sea ports remained almost stable.

In order to manage the unknown challenges of the year 2013, forming alliances and cooperations is important, emphasized the vice chairman of the logistics initiative, Dr. Bernd Pahnke, during his opening speech. Claudia Roller, chief executive officer of Port of Hamburg Marketing, the project leader of Amber Coast Logistics, referred about the "Future perspectives of the Baltic Sea region's economy". Further speakers were Bernard Buchhagen, DB Netz AG, and Arunas Urbonas of Port of Sassnitz.

The framework of the year 2013 kick-off conference was the partner meeting of the "Amber Coast Logistics" project which was attended by 30 international participants. After this intensive exchange between the project partners about the current work status it is planned to present first project results on the mid-term-conference on the 22nd/23rd of April 2013 in Copenhagen.

On a closing study visit to the port the international guests were deeply impressed by the extensive logistics offer at the port of Rostock.
