EWTC Association meeting was held in Klaipeda and Karlshamn the 8th to 9th of November

Port of Klaipeda and Karlshamn Municipality was on the 8th to the 9th of November hosts for an East West Transport Corridor Association Meeting. The East West Transport Corridor Association is a major international organization that was formed under the East West Transport Corridor II project in Vilnius on 29 June in years, and an important output of the EWTC II project. The association that brings together members from e.g. Denmark, Sweden, Lithuania, Mongolia and China, work to strengthen partnerships between countries, government agencies, research centers and private sources to create a competitive base for international transport in the South Baltic Region

The meeting was held to e.g. familiarize the members of the Association with the transport corridor and the Swedish transport market. Participants gathered first in Klaipeda where the Lithuanian Minister of Transport also attended. After a day of discussions, the participants were shipped to Karlshamn with the DFDS Lisco line. The activities in Karlshamn began with a visit to the Port of Karlshamn, followed by networking activities and seminars with the theme of transport and logistics in the east-west corridor. The activities were designed improve networking between companies from different parts of the corridor but also to strengthen cooperation in the development of the transport corridor.

Sven-Åke Svensson, Mayor of Karlshamn and Vice Chairman of the EWTC Association, was very happy to welcome the participants to Karlshamn, the very center of the development. At the meeting participated representatives from e.g. Lithuania, Russia and China. Participating from the Swedish industry were representatives from H & M, Volvo, Tetra Laval, Green, and local transport and logistics businesses.
