FM - First Motion fellow nominated for his first Oscar

It's incredible: Stefan Gieren's postgraduate production RAJU has been nominated for this years Oscar in the Live Action Short Film category! We're really proud of that for Stefan was one of the first guys being supported by First Motion in 2010 in the development of his cross-media project SUPERHERO.BLOG. RAJU is directed by Max Zähle, Stefan's former co-student at the Hamburg Media School.

It seems such a short time ago that Stefan was making preparations for RAJU while participating in our international labs 2010 in Talinn, and Viinistu, Estonia. And only half a year has passed since his film RAJU won the bronze medal at the Student Academy Awards 2011. Now the next big step to an international career is foreseeable, when the Academy Award ceremony is held at Kodak Theatre in Los Angeles on 26th February 2012. That's great news for all of us.

Bernd-Günther Nahm of Filmfund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein and First Motion activist right from the start emphasizes: "Up-and-coming producer Stefan Gieren is a prime example showing how successful fostering of talents in the Baltic region can be. We're certainly on the right way with our projects, labs and curricula, all of them part-financed by the EU. We wish Stefan good luck and we're keeping our fingers crossed!"
