Things you need to know to prepare a successful application to Interreg Baltic Sea Region.
Interreg Baltic Sea Region provides funding to projects for which transnational cooperation is necessary. Therefore, projects should start by defining the transnational challenge and project objectives. It should be clear from the project description, why it is not possible to solve the identified challenges on national level. Project activities should be jointly implemented. The scope in terms of number of cooperation partners, project duration and budgets is described below:
- Partnership size: At least three partners from three different countries in the Programme area are needed to form a project partnership. Typically, the number of partners ranges between six and ten. The partnership should match the scope and objectives of the project: it should be build according to the competences needed in the project.
- Duration: Projects usually last three years, and only few projects were shorter in the past. In some cases, projects may apply for an extension stage project, e.g. if a successful project needs more time to implement pilots or investments
- Budgets: The total budgets for projects typically range between EUR 1.5 and 4.5 million.
The Programme is not meant to fund activities with only local or national dimensions, pure research projects or large scale investments.
