Introduction to the Fruit Basket, project Output Library
The Baltic Sea Region (BSR) Programme 2007-2013 financed in total 90 transnational cooperation projects covering a wide scope of themes. In order to share the work done with you, the Programme has created this online basket of projects – a Fruit Basket if you will (formally called the Output Library).
The Fruit Basket may be used for diverse purposes. For example, when you have a specific challenge in your area with regard to transport, you may want to find out what has been done previously in that area and you will most likely find useful documents that would increase your knowledge in the specific topic. Take your pick!

BalticClimate Report: Climate Change Impact and Vulnerability Assessment - Target Areas’ Experiences
Date:
Dec 2011
Description:
The report presents the experiences of a pilot assessment on climate change impacts and vulnerability. Policy makers and planners can see how a set of exercises was implemented in 7 BSR pilot regions to assess the vulnerability focusing on the sectors of agriculture, energy, housing or transport. The report includes overviews of both exercises and vulnerability assessments, as well as a synthesis summary and detailed descriptions of each pilot implementation.

Guides to oil contingency planning and exercising
Date:
Jan 2012
Description:
Comprehensive experience from the oil contingency planning and exercising performed within the scope of the Baltic Master II project is presented in a binder consisting of guides and best practice advise. Suggestions of new APMs and their implementation
Date:
Jan 2012
Description:
The Baltic Sea is recognized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as being a Particularly Sensitive Sea Area (PSSA). However, this status is only effective when proper Associated Protective Measures (APMs) are introduced and implemented. In the report compiled by the Maritime Institute in Gdansk suggestions and recommendations are being presented, based on different scenario modeling.

Title:
Implementation of the Ballast Water Management convention
Date:
Jan 2012
Description:
The Port of Gdynia Authority S.A. has carried out a risk assessment of ballast water and sediment and prepared what should be done in order to be well prepared to ratify the Ballast Water Convention. The report is named "Recommendations for the implementation BWM in Baltic ports". Supporting documents are found here:

Title:
Sustainable Management of Contaminated Sediments - Guideline
Date:
Dec 2012
Description:
The guideline has a sustainability approach for management of contaminated sediments in dredging projects. It covers the whole process from identifying the need of dredging to the serviceability state after handling of the dredged sediments, i.e. “what to do” and give support to decisions to be made at different times throughout the whole process, i.e. “how to do”. This “how to do” tool-box comprises eleven parts related to the different decision situations during the life time of a project, all the way from sampling and testing of sediments to be dredged to monitoring of a completed construction. The guideline is to be used by stakeholders, consultants and contractors.

Title:
Stationary leakage model in case of chemical warfare agents (CWAs) spill in the Baltic Sea - summary description
Date:
Mar 2014
Description:
CHEMSEA developed a model resolving the dynamics of surface and nearbottom water layers and predicting the concentrations and transport patterns of dissolved CWAs and their degradation products. The model has been calibrated using real data (hydrology, bathymetry, degradation rates) obtained within the CHEMSEA project. Short time simulations have shown probable pollution of the investigated areas. These results were used as basis for CHEMSEA contingency planning. Sample images from the model and further results of the model can be obtained from /www.chemsea.eu/Risk_Assessment,9.html

Title:
Handbook for Fishermen & emergency pictogramms
Date:
Mar 2014
Description:
Guidebook for Fishing Boat Crews describes precautions, handling and legal procedures in case of chemical munition bycatch. For even simplified message, flyers and pictogram stickers were also produced. This guidance-kit has been disseminated during the cycle of CHEMSEA trainings for fishermen and is also available via project website www.chemsea.eu/guidelines.php
