Review and presentations: workshop for finalising projects in Riga

Lead partners, project managers and financial managers from 15 projects and secretariat staff met in Riga on 14-15 May 2013 at the workshop for finalising projects.

Filling in the final progress report, financial issues, formulating indicators, communication and experience in reporting were on the agenda. In the closure phase project managers are concentrating on administrative issues. The project implementation has to be closed by then. It is important that all project changes have to be done before the implementation period ends and the closure phase starts.

The final report is very similar to the regular report. However, the projects are also asked to submit some additional documents: template describing the main outputs, annex to the final report presenting the project's achievements, project pictures. Participants discussed several issues and made recommendations for the future concerning:

  • Flexibility of the application and the work plan
  • Use of online forms
  • Pros and cons of using the Excel files and eventual change to PDF forms
  • FLC system with uneven standards and different interpretation of rules
  • Use of flat-rates and overheads, as well as
  • Liquidity and cash flow problems.

Recommendations will be taken into account when preparing the next programme for 2014-2020.
