Third call for project applications opens January 2010

Interested applicants to the programme are advised to get started for the third open call for project applications. The "Task Force Programme Strategy" proposed at its Berlin meeting, on 27 October, to open the third call on 4 January 2010. Envisaged deadline will be 22 March 2010. In principle, all four thematic priorities of the programme can still be accessed. However, applicants should carefully check if their preferred topic meets the expectations of the programme stakeholders. As the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region will soon become an official European policy applicants should also closely examine if their project results will contribute to meeting the objectives of the Strategy.

Applicants will find a specific guidance in the "Announcement Note" for the third call. The final Announcement Note will need to be approved by the Monitoring Committee, and will be published on this website. The Monitoring Committee will start selecting project proposals at its next meeting in June in Helsinki and continue in September 2010.

Altogether about 80 million euros are still available for EU partners, 2.2 million euros for Norwegian partners and 18 million euros from the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI) which Belarusian partners can apply for. The Joint Technical Secretariat will organise Lead Applicants seminars in Riga on 2-3 December 2009 and in Malmö on 13-14 January 2010. Registration will be opened soon.
